Aircraft Maintenance Engineers play a Major role among the Maintenance personnel to keep the Aircraft ‘Airworthy’ at all times. No civil Aircraft registered in India can be operated without being certified as Airworthy by the Aircraft Maintenance Engineer’s holding AME licenses in the respective categories. The maintenance of modern sophisticated aircraft calls for high degree of technical knowledge, competence, proficiency & integrity on the part of the concerned personnel. Tremendous responsibility lies upon the Aircraft Maintenance Engineers who are certifying the modern sophisticated Aircraft’s, manned byexperienced crew trained at high cost and great care carrying the precious load of ever increasing number of passengers.

HPAI provides 03 years of aircraft maintenance engineering duly approved by the DGCA Gov. of India under CAR 147 Basic and having two stream.

1. Mechanical

2. Avionics (B2)

To become an aircraft maintenance engineer one has to undergo three years training program and a license has to be obtained from the DGCA to certify the civil aircraft.

During the entire course curriculum one has to clear all the modules conducted by the DGCA apart from 06 semester exams conducted by the institute, followed by a type training from an airlines/MRO/Manufacturer and clear theory, practical and oral exam under DGCA, thereby entitle him to get a license on a specific aircraft. This license is valid throughout the world since it comes under ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization)

HPAI as a DGCA approved institute will provide theoretical and practical training to cover all the modules as per the allotment of the different category (B1.1 and B2) to the individual.

The practical training will be given in three phases:

1. In House

2. HAL (which engaged itself for manufacturing of military aircraft)

3. Outsource: Minimum 30% of total practical training will be given on live aircraft which has to be outsource for which the institute is having an agreement with AI ESL Mumbai and Nagpur base along with Go Air , Nagpur base to cover the outsources practical as per the mutual agreement . Apart from this, It is the only institute which has tied up with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Nasik Division to provide the basic practical training to the students of HPAI and exposing a big engineering environment in the field of aviation
